Just after Donald celebrated his 65th birthday he went for a medical check up and it was revealed that he was as much as 25 pounds over weight. Thereon he started with a strict dietary regimen and soon came to loose the extra pounds along with a lot of extra weight, vitality and energy. There on he started looking exhausted and had a drawn face, which became an element of concern for his friends and family.
A couple of years later he joined a fitness program. By this point in time, he had re-gained the extra 25 pounds but after a span of 6 months with the help of his determined will power to eat with restriction and effective exercise, Donald slimmed down once again. This time the difference was evident as he obviously looked better, filled with energy and he himself felt better as well. This time he was really having a good health.
So what do you think made all the difference? Well, what Donald lost first time was his weight and what he lost second time was the extra fat. Though it may sound simple but this difference is rather significant. Research reveals that a lot of the weight that is lost through dieting is the active tissues including the connective tissues and the muscle. Dieting leads to a very small loss of actual fat. However, exercise has just the opposite effect. Exercise helps decrease the excess fat in the body and increase the lean body muscle.
It is the same with cellulite as well. Often people think that it is only the fat and obese individuals who have cellulite; although the truth is that a lot of people have cellulite without being fat at all. Though cellulite refers to a series of crumpled subcutaneous connective tissues and fat cells right under the skin layer, it is never to be associated with obesity.
Practically no one really knows what exactly causes or initiates the accumulation of cellulite. Nonetheless, health experts are narrowing down upon a few factors, which may be responsible such as:
- The fat cell structures
- Some kind of poison that enters the body
- Hormonal changes occurring in body
Except, none of the above mentioned points have been proven to be the direct trigger for cellulite.
One of the prime reasons that cause a wider number of cases among women is the connective tissues in women, which are a lot more firm and rigid than in men. So when a woman gains weight, the fatty cells start swelling and increase in size. This gives an orange peel like look with the protruding appearance of fat cells. Therefore, women are a lot more susceptible to cellulite depositions than men and consequently they need to be more cautious with their body.
Cellulite and Fat
As the number of cases of overweight people who have cellulite in their bodies is growing, most of these patients nurture the incorrect idea that it is the fat in their body, which is causing the cellulite. Though it is not necessary that all fat people will have cellulite but excess fat in the body can often lead to cellulite. When there are too many fat cells present under the skin they start pushing out the connective tissues that creates a strain in the stratum of skin, which is what cellulite is. However, this is a process that is reliant on the construction of the cells. If an individual has a cell structure that doesn’t have the tendency to expand or bulge, cellulite won’t be formed even if there are accumulated fat deposits present.
So what is most important is to keep the connective tissues strong and firm and also to avoid the accumulation of excess fat. This can prevent the formation of cellulite to a large extent.
Most of our body systems are well equipped in the act of transforming the food we eat into fat but what is really difficult is loosing all that fat. There are only three alternative options that can help loose fat effectively. These are:
- To decrease the overall intake of food and continue to remain active constantly
- Increase the amount of activity and exercise while keeping the food intake constant
- Strike a combination of both the processes, exercise and diet at the same time
Physical activity can produce outstanding results to alter the effects of inactivity. Just a single hour of tough exercise can burn up to 600 calories. On the other hand if one can manage to cut around 300 – 500 calories off their daily diet, there is a very strong chance of loosing weight at a speed of 1 to 2 pounds in every single week. Consequently, if an individual doesn’t want to exercise he or she would need to consume 500 to 1000 calories less every day to loose the same amount of weight in a week. Nevertheless, exercise is not meant for everybody who is overweight. People who are severely obese should only exercise under the supervision of medical professionals so that no strain is caused to the cardiovascular system or any of the connective tissues. There on no one should also restrict the consumption of food drastically without consulting the doctor. Doing any of the above mentioned things could only worsen the situation furthermore.
That is what happened to Donald. As soon as continued with his dieting, he thought he eventually lost the extra pounds that he had accumulated but practically he had only lost the connective tissues.
So, all those susceptible to cellulite are more likely to have this problem. Losing weight by losing the connective tissues and not the fat may lead to further skin problems and the appearance of cellulite. So the fat remains and the skin worsens and hence the problem instead of getting eliminated worsens all the more. So if you seriously want to loose the cellulite it is always better to lose the fat first. One of the most effective ways in, which the fat can be burnt is by increasing the metabolic rate by anything from 7.5% to the maximum of 28% extra than the existing metabolic rate. That is precisely why exercise is so much more important. So to attain a cellulite free body it is necessary to indulge in exercise on a regular basis.
